PARKING. All vehicles will enter in front of the school on Elk Road. Buses will be directed to the lot between the
middle and high schools. All other parking is in the lots close to the football and baseball stadium.
Spectator parking is $5.00 per carload.
The 2024 running of Jungle Run will mark its 22nd event at South View High School. This is the original North Carolina XC night race, pre-dating Friday Night Lights, and one of the larger early season 5K’s. Covid disrupted the XC world and Jungle Run lost a lot of its draw and annual participation coming out of covid. Leesville Road is returning to race Jungle Run in 2024 (last time on course was 2019). This year is a Military/First Responders theme, and there will be meet T-shirt sales to support this.
Leesville Road is ready to roll with our “Tropical Jerseys”. Races will feature ~150 in the Boys Championship Race and ~100 in the Girls Championship Race (close to 200 in each of the 2 Invitational races). This is an excellent race to test 5K racing and grow early in the season. The course is flat, fast, spike friendly, and finishes on the track. The forecast for Saturday is fairly good for Sandhills in August — lower dew point and lower humidity. Night races always bring out “next level” energy, and we expect a strong team performance this Saturday night, working to bring some of the “lost energy” back to this race venue.
