Varsity Assignment/Promotion:
Athletes are assigned to Varsity Team or JV Team status during Winter Tryouts (Indoor Season) and during Spring Tryouts (Outdoor Season). Varsity assignments are based on criteria shown in the chart below. Some athletes will be promoted from JV to Varsity in-season, and we will formally recognize promotions during team practices.

Varsity Athletes will be expected to do more:
Practices: some practices “Varsity Only”, and Varsity will practice more than JV.
Competition: willingness and drive to compete in 2-4 events in a meet.
Conditioning: continuously develop strength, endurance, and recovery abilities.
Flexibility: willingness to grow, develop, and expand events coverage.

Teamwork: supportive of teammates and a “team needs me, put me in coach” mindset.

Field Events:
Athletes can request to train in a Field Event; however, coaches may say “no”.
Field Events require 1:1 technical instruction, and roster assignments will be limited.
Athletes assigned to Field Events will either be Varsity or on a “path to Varsity”.
Field Athletes will be under Varsity assignment expectations.
