Beginning Fall 2025, NCHSAA is moving from 4 classifications to 8 classifications. Leesville Road High School, being one of the ten largest high schools in North Carolina is moving from 4A to 8A with reclassification.
CAP 8 Conference:
Leesville continues to be in the “CAP” Conference, and we pick back up as “CAP 8”:
– Athens Drive
– Corinth Holders
– Enloe
– Leesville Road
– Millbrook
– Needham Broughton
– Rolesville
– Wakefield
NCHSAA 8A Regions:
NCHSAA 8A will be divided into 2 Regions: East & West. Other Classes will be 3 Regions.
2025 Cross Country Changes:
NCHSAA 8A State Championship Team Advancers will be top 6 Boys teams and top 6 Girls teams from East and West Regions.
Individual Advancers will be top 7 Individual finishers on non-qualfiying Teams.
NCHSAA 8A State Championship will be Saturday afternoon/evening at Ivey Redmon Park (11/1/2025)
2025-2026 Indoor Track & Field Changes:
JDL is now a banked Indoor 200m oval.
CAP 8 will attempt to host multi-team mid-week Polar Bear meets.
State Championship will be top 12 Verified FAT & NCHSAA Sanctioned Entries (No “Qualifier Marks”).
School maximum of 3 Individuals per Event and 1 Relay per School are still in effect.
Scratches are due within 24hrs of initial performance list piblication (reseeding to follow).
NCHSAA 8A State Championship will be on Friday afternoon evening (2/13/2026).
2025-2026 Outdoor Track & Field Changes:
CAP 8 will attempt to host multi-team mid-week meets (consolidating dual meets where possible).
Regionals will be top 16 Verified FAT & NCHSAA Sanctioned Entries (No “Qualifier Marks”) — Friday or Saturday (5/8 or 5/9).
School maximum of 3 Individuals per Event and 1 Relay per School are still in effect. Ties will reduce the field.
NCHSAA 8A State Championship Advancers will be top 6 places.
Additional Individual State Championship Advancers will be the next best 4 marks across both Regions.
NCHSAA 8A State Championship will be on Saturday (5/16/2026).
All of this is pending final NCHSAA approvals, and any changes from this are expected to begin with 2026-2027.
